Miss Democracy @ Planthouse, NY, NY
Jun, 2020
I say that democracy can never prove itself beyond cavil, until it founds and luxuriantly grows its own forms of art, poems, schools, theology, displacing all that exists, or that has been produced anywhere in the past, under opposite influences.

Who Needs This – KCUR 89.3 FM

Segment 2, beginning at 14:24: An art exhibit at Haw Contemporary was designed around a simple question.
The gallery had to put the exhibit together in a rush after something fell through. They asked artists to contribute work with one stipulation: it had to answer or ask the question who needs this?

Haw Contemporary is pleased to announce our final exhibition of 2019 – a group show entitled Who Needs This.
The work in the exhibition covers a wide range of styles and mediums. Some of it has been seen before. There are old friends and new. Artists at different stages in their careers. Several are participating in their first show at the gallery.
Like our lives, it’s messy and a little uncomfortable.
The unifying thread is that each piece was selected because it asks or answers a question whose nuances are many: Who needs this? We look forward to seeing you at the Crossroads location this Friday between 6-9pm.
